Cat bullying? Is this curable?

I have two cats, both indoor. One escaped outside for the night, but came back the next morning. Now the other cat hisses and growls at escape artist cat. I thought this would go away soon, because she acts like this when I take escape artist cat to the vet, but then comes around after about a day. It has been two full days now, and I catch her sometimes cornering escape artist cat and trying to start a fight. Luckily, escape artist cat is very mellow and just runs off, but he seems distressed because he's hiding under the couch all day. Will this eventually wear off once the unusual "smells" he brought in, wear off? Help!!
